We have been extremely lucky to be featured as a business owner, as wedding planners, and beyond. We are so humbled by these features, and we hope you love them, too!
From Emma Mullins Photography: Claire and Andrew’s winter wedding at Fairlie Chicago was one for the books! Besides being my first wedding at this gorgeous venue, I was so excited for these two to tie the knot. From our very first meeting, I knew their wedding day was going to be awesome! In Claire’s words:
“We both wanted a winter wedding, and I love the colors. I would say as far as a theme goes it will be pretty simple and modern with a lot of greenery!! Our main priorities are good music, good drinks, and a great photographer to help us capture it all!!! We just want our guests to have a lot of fun.”
I think it’s safe to say their wedding day vision was executed perfectly! After their first look at Fairlie, we traveled to Union Station for some iconic photos with the wedding party. Andrew and Claire could not keep their eyes off each other… thanks for making my job easy, guys!
This May, Kirsten of Olive Fine Weddings married her husband, Cody, at Chicago Marriott Southwest at Burr Ridge in a classic and timeless celebration.
Kirsten and Cody met at a mutual friend’s wedding in Mississippi in April 2018. At the time, Kirsten was living in Arizona and Cody in Chicago. Conveniently, Kirsten had a few trips to Chicago planned in preparation for her cousin’s September 2018 wedding. The two took advantage of these visits up from Arizona that summer and soon they were officially an item. After about a year of dating long-distance, Kirsten made the move up to Chicago in the summer of 2019. The following year, Cody asked “the question” on a sunset hike in Arizona and the rest is history.
Out with the old and in with the new! While in the past society has labeled certain parts of a wedding “tradition,” this team of Chicago wedding professionals decided to break the mold in efforts to prove that gone are the days.
“Originally inspired by a Chicago skyline sunset and the meeting of steely, sleek skyline and soft, vibrant watercolor skies, quickly morphed into an exercise in the melding of masculinity and femininity,” notes Noelle Humbert, planner and designer at Olive Fine Weddings.
So, the bride and groom (or brides and grooms) got through the notoriously stressful part of narrowing down their wedding party and you made the cut. Congrats! As one of the couple’s biggest supporters, it’s obviously your goal to ensure the wedding day and events leading up to it are as entertaining, memorable, and free of any unnecessary anxiety as possible. This is certainly much easier said than done, especially when assigned the ever-so-important title of either maid of honor or best man (or man of honor or best woman).
But, not every major duty should fall in the hands of these two special people.
“Delegate, delegate, delegate!” advises Olivia Nicoletti of Olive Fine Weddings & Events. “You’ve chosen to be in a wedding party because you are close to the couple, but no single person should assume all responsibilities leading into the big day.”
Ryan and Kelli’s wedding proves that smaller doesn’t mean less impressive. With COVID forcing them into a smaller guest list, they still designed and held a classic and timeless church ceremony with Chicago’s skyline in the background. This beautiful and meaningful ceremony has so much joy and we hope that you love reading their story!
Monogrammed Hats, Gloves, Scarves or Socks
These wedding favors, when engraved with the couples’ initials and wedding date, provide warmth and a fun photo op, said Olivia Nicoletti, the owner and lead planner of Olive Fine Weddings & Events in Chicago.
Mindy and Jared celebrated their union at Gallery 1028, an industrial loft-style space in the heart of Chicago on a rainy Sunday afternoon in June. Guests arrived from all parts of the United States and Canada to celebrate Mindy and Jared's special day.
“Happy Saturday! Carolyn here again. (Or at least I think it’s Saturday…) I don’t know about all of you, but quarantine has thrown me for a loop. Getting used to sharing a workspace with my husband, strategizing our grocery store runs, and just trying to keep up with everything going on in the world—it’s all been unexpected, to say the least. I’m going on week seven of staying at home and finally starting to feel like I’m settling into a routine.
I know I’m not only one who’s felt this way, which is why I thought we could all use a few organization tips in the next Saturday Series. Let’s face it—we’re all trying to feel more organized on a good day, let alone when the world has been turned upside down. Though I have a few established strategies of my own, I definitely don’t consider myself to be an organization specialist. I decided to call in the experts, otherwise known as Olivia Nicoletti, Owner & Lead Planner at Olive Fine Weddings in Chicago.”
“Lexi and Dan brought the beauty of an outdoor garden into their Room 1520 wedding on a gorgeous Chicago summer day. Decor by Atmosphere Events Group, planning by Olive Fine Weddings and Events, and photography by Alexandra Lee Photography.”
“When a couple focuses on the meaning behind every detail of their wedding day, you know it's going to be good! From The Saddle & Cycle Club as the venue (and where the bride's parents were married) to the engagement ring being the grooms, grandmothers, to even saying their 'I Do's' in the church where the bride grew up singing in, not a detail was missed! The ever so wonderful, Elizabeth Nord Photography captured every heartfelt moment and Olive Fine Weddings & Events planned all of the bride and groom's wishes! With classic decor and florals by Edward's Florist, these nuptials were absolute perfection! Take a look and get lost in the details :)”
“Celebrating Scott + Matt’s wedding was truly joyful. They’ve been engaged for nearly two years, waiting for a break in their residency schedules to kick off their marriage with friends and family in Scott’s hometown of Chicago.”
“Some venues are truly timeless, and that’s the case with the stunning Chicago History Museum. Its Georgian-style architecture and soft color palette also creates the perfect blank slate for any color palette. When Olive Fine Weddings and Events and Alexandra Lee Photography set out to design this romantic wedding inspiration shoot, they chose elements of ivory, gold, and hunter green, an unexpected wedding color that can easily be transitioned from season to season!”
Elopements are having a moment. They’re perfect for the couple craving a ceremony based in closeness - just the two of you, looking deep into each other’s eyes and promising forever. Chicago, known for its industrial L-trains soaring above pedestrians and gilded art-deco architecture, is the perfect setting to fold couples into the intimacy of an elopement. Pair that Chicago backdrop with chic, modern, unexpected personal details, and let the moment speak for itself.
“Gracie and Brandon, Brandon and Gracie. Since their love story began over a decade ago, these two have built a delicately intertwined life, sharing joy, heartbreak, adventure, and wisdom - creating a life firmly rooted in their love for each other. Inseparable from day one and surely until the last, these two are the epitome of soul mates and care more about a life filled with laughter than lavishness.”
“Welcome to winter, friends! Even though it’s cold and dark, I think that there’s something so cozy and romantic about this time of year. And what better way to enjoy it than to snuggle up with your love and capture some of that love with a snowy engagement session, or glittery winter wedding day?!
If you’re planning on a winter scene, I wanted to share a few tips to make those gorgeous (but chilly!) outdoor sessions easy and super chic.”
“Please tell us about your art.
I am a wedding and event planner, and beyond executing the logistics of event, there is such creativity that goes into pulling off the perfect event. Planners need to have a sharp eye and the ability to think outside the box. I work carefully with every client to think through their vision, and maximize their budget for the maximum impact. My message to every client: be yourself! It’s easy to get steeped in the world of Pinterest, but the most important thing on your wedding day is to create a day that reflects your personalities, as it is the beginning of your marriage…”
"Morning, Cakies! We’ve actually seen a couple of super duper unique butterfly-themed real weddings here on 100LC (this + this come to mind) in the past, so it was extra special to see this concept come to life in a completely new way, as dreamt up by Stone Fruit and Olive Fine Weddings & Events at the ever-chic Allegro Chicago. While scrolling through the glamorous images Allie Appel Photography shared, be sure to read all about the team’s concept—it’s sure to inspire whether you’re planning a spring or fall wedding."
"When you have a chemistry that feels like it was ripped right out of a Rom-Com, there is no need for all those over the top wedding details. This beautiful and minimal winter wedding day was sponsored and designed by Olive Fine Weddings & Events. But behind every great project is a great team, and Maureen of Stone Fruit was Olive Fine Weddings right hand on this fabulous inspiration. "
"This black tie wedding in Ithaca, New York by RachelLiz Photography is full of warmth and romance! With this black tie bride being a wedding planner herself, the details throughout the day are perfectly presented. Her black tie style blends elegance and romance beautifully."
"We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing is ever easy, but I try and always live by one of my favorite quotes: “follow your bliss”. I am just so happy to be doing this work – it fills me with such joy to surround myself with other creatives and humility to know that there is always something to learn..."
