Colleen + Greg: Intimate, Meaningful, Magical Chicago Wedding

HI!!! I (Olivia) asked Kirsten, our fabulous planner, to share her thoughts of Colleen + Greg’s spectacular May wedding day. She guided this sweet couple as their coordinator, and MAN it looked magical. All notes below are hers. Thank you, Kirsten!

Like most COVID couples, Colleen & Greg had to adjust their plans, but nothing was going to stop these two from tying the knot on their original date they set prior to COVID. They bobbed and weaved based on the ever-changing city restrictions, but in front of an intimate group of their family and friends on an unseasonably early May day, they exchanged vows at Holy Name Cathedral. After the ceremony, they moved to Ivy Room where Atmosphere Events Group transformed the outdoor space with lights and candles into an intimate, glowy feasting space to celebrate with their nearest and dearest. Champagne flowed, music played — Congratulations, Colleen + Greg!

The day started with the ladies all getting ready at The Gwen by the glam squad from Blush & Braids Beauty Bar. There was not a dry eye in the suite when Colleen shared gifts with her attendants and moms — most of the ladies jokingly told the beautiful bride they wished they received their special presents prior to getting their makeup done! After everyone got dressed, Colleen’s big reveal was set with the beautiful skyline in the background. As the ladies were getting ready, the gents were enjoying their morning at Colleen and Greg’s townhome.

Colleen’s father married them at the stunning Holy Name Cathedral on an unseasonably warm May day. The cutest flower girl and thirty of their closest friends and family members were in attendance. After the ceremony, the couple incorporated Greg’s Jewish faith and broke the chuppah glass outside on the Church’s steps.

Between the ceremony and reception, the wedding party enjoyed the beautiful, seventy degree and sunny day strolling through Lincoln Park — the views here are unreal!

The final stop of the day was the spectacular Ivy Room!! Cocktail hour started with Greg’s grandmother overseeing their Ketubah ceremony and sharing the significance of what it meant for their future.

Guests then transitioned to a magical courtyard with a large feasting table, with a light canopy designed by Atmosphere Events Group and hundreds of candles. Magical does not give the courtyard justice (I mean….GAH!). As the evening went on, speeches were given by the couple’s best friends showcasing how perfect the two were for each other.

What I (Kirsten) loved most about this this day was all the meaningful moments that Colleen and Greg incorporated. From Colleen’s father marrying the couple to Greg’s grandmother overseeing the Ketubah signing and Greg’s Best Man emceeing their introduction, the couple intentionally incorporated each of their guests in a special way that made the night so special.
