Sachi + Andy: Perfect, Kind, Cultural Chicago Wedding

You could not find a kinder pair than Sachi + Andy. These two are college sweethearts with absolute hearts of gold. And for a couple like this, I just realllllyyyy wanted them to have a perfect wedding, and Chicago SHOWED UP for their late August bash at Adler Planetarium. The weather was that blissful Chicago summer 80 degrees with a hint of breeze, and their guests witnessed the sun go down behind the couple during their emotional ceremony, officiated by their mutual friend. They kicked off the party with a traditional Japanese sake ceremony, led by the bride’s brother, and a pretty unreal first dance. It was truly one of my favorite weddings to be part of — Congratulations to Sachi + Andy!

These two have very close knit families and groups of friends - the bride’s friends have known her since kindergarten. There were many gifts exchanged and tears spilled while getting ready for Sachi’s perfect day at the Park Hyatt.

Andy and his gents got ready upstairs, and this sweet groom helped tie the bowtie for all of his gents.

Sachi + Andy’s first look is one of my most favorite moments from their day (although there are so. many.). I mean, just LOOK AT THEM!

The wedding party met the couple and they traveled over to the Adler for some beautiful photos, and to get ready for the ceremony. Their ceremony was officiated by a best friend of the couple, and there was not a dry eye left at the end - the setting, the words, and the love were just perfect.

Sachi’s family is Japanese, and Andy’s is Jewish so they chose to include many cultural elements to unite their families including a beautiful chuppah created by AEG, and a traditional sake ceremony, led by the bride’s brother.

Dinner was served by Food for Thought, tunes were provided by Toast & Jam, and late night bites from two Chicago staples - Lou Malnati’s and Hoosier Mama Pie Company.

Their first dance was an incredibly choreographed “Smooth” by Santana, which got everyone to their feet, and kept them on the dance floor all night long.
