Meghan + Lucas: Cozy, Classic Chicago Wedding

When I first met Meghan + Lucas, I was blown away by how kind, genuine, and generous they were. They’re loyal to their family and friends above all else, and there is a joy between them that’s infectious.

On November 24, 2018, these two tied the knot in Meghan’s hometown, just southwest of Chicago, at the church she grew up in. Her mom walked her down the aisle, and their ceremony was moving and sweet. They had a fun bubble exit from the church and then headed downtown to capture some gorgeous skyline photos, taken by the husband and wife team behind Metts Photo.

Their reception, held at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club was chock full of candles, memories, and dancing - Toast & Jam’s DJ Rachel provided the beats, punctuated by hilarious Best Man and Maid of Honor speeches. Lucas danced with his mother, while Meghan began her first dance with her mom. After a few bars, her younger brother and sister entered and the four of them danced to Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl”. They ended the night with a hilarious bouquet and garter toss and served late night snacks and an unbelievable dessert bar to their guests. The new Mr. & Mrs. Johnston floated off for a nightcap with their closest crew at the hotel, steeped in the memories of their perfect day.

Meghan met her ladies at the Marriott Burr Ridge for some bubbles and pampering, while Lucas got ready at his childhood home, surrounded by family and friends. His mother pinned his boutonniere, a sweet wedding day mother-son moment.

Meghan’s stunning bouquet from Chicago-based Steve’s Flower Market was wrapped in a locket from her later father.

After bride and groom are dressed and surrounded by family, they each opened a letter from the other, sharing sweet wedding-day thoughts to prepare for the ceremony.
